Sermon Series List

Daniel: faith in the fire

Daniel6

The book of Daniel tells Daniel’s story - and a fascinating and instructive story it is. But the main purpose of Daniel is to reveal to us who God is - His character, His purposes, His way of working in the world for the good of His people. The main lesson of Daniel, then, is not, as is sometimes assumed, Dare to be a Daniel! Rather, the main point is this: Dare to trust in Daniel’s God, even when the world seems against you. How do we remain faithful to God, especially in an age where it seems a great deal is moving in a different direction? What does it look like to trust in God when our world is turned upside down? Daniel remained faithful and God used him to great effect, how can God use us in the fiery challenges of life?

A series of sermons over 10 weeks, scroll down to see the sermon recordings and accompanying study notes for each sermon. In summary, the series titles are:

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome

If you're planning to visit us on a Sunday morning, here is some useful information so you know what to expect.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.00 am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving a little early to ensure you can park locally (check the different restrictions on the roadside) and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

After the service you are welcome to join us for a hot or cold drink and a biscuit, this is completely free of charge and is a great way to informally meet a few of our members.

Plan your journey:

Open Google Maps

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are accessible toilets available too.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.00 am with a warm welcome from one of our team. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 10 minutes. At this point, the children and youth normally leave and go to their groups.

Then, a person will often pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. At some point during the service, we will share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible-based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song or two and often there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for children of all ages:

  • Creche (Pre-school)
  • Sunday Club (Reception to Year 6)
  • Zone (School Year 7 -11)
  • Young people (for ages 16+)

Children stay with their parent or carer at the start of the service for the welcome and worship. The service leader will clearly announce when it is time for the children and young people to go out to their groups.  If your child has not attended the group before, you will need to go with your children to register them as part of our child safety policy.

The children's activities vary depending on the age but usually, there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small home groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. If you'd like to join a home group, get in touch with the church office and we can put you in touch with a group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If once you have visited a few times, you want to get more involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team. Please talk to Pastor David or one of the Elders about the opportunities that are available.
